May 2001
My Dear Friends,
Of all the four seasons, I would have to say that spring is my favourite time of year. I love hearing the birds sing, seeing spring blossoms on the trees, the chill of winter removed and feeling warm spring breezes, and witnessing the arrival of daffodils, tulips and a variety of flowers sprouting forth to announce the arrival of spring. The spring season also presents us the opportunity to catch up with our neighbours whom like many of us have been hibernating indoors during the winter months.
Spring certainly brings an abundance of activity throughout the world. This time of year inspires us with cleaning and beautifying our homes inside and out, in preparation for the warm summer months soon to come. For many of us it is a time to rid ourselves of clothing and possessions we no longer need, and donate these articles to charity, or sell through a garage sale that will help finance the annual summer vacation. Spring brings even more change, as real estate For Sale signs dart through our communities announcing the decision of change by our friends and neighbours.
Spring is also a time for graduation that sees our young people move forth to higher education and for many the conclusion of their academic studies, and final graduation to the workplace.
The spring season inspires us to get back to an exercise program, healthy eating habits, and maybe a new look for ourselves in the form of a new hairstyle, makeover, day at the spa, or possibly some new spring clothes. Spring certainly brings forth a lot of positive change to our surroundings and more importantly to ourselves.
It is amazing to see the effect that spring has on the faces of those we encounter each day, including ourselves. How truly amazing what a little warm weather, sunshine, and the beauty of nature provides for one's mind, body, spirit & soul.
The spring season as we all know brings forth April showers, that than bring May flowers. Though flowers are not the only things that blossom in the spring. Love also fills the fragrant spring air, and blossoms for all that allow love into their lives. Singles people around the world intensify their search for love, and for many the spring season introduces them to their lover, partner, and best friend to share their life with. We also see friends, and family members announce their engagement, and a multitude of marriages that occur during the spring season. Let us also not forget the arrival of new babies to friends, family, and possibly ourselves. Spring certainly is the season for love.
As much as I enjoy Mother Nature's spring presentation, what I enjoy most is watching the effects of spring on people. Particularly my focus as always watches with amusement as children play, and babies born the three seasons prior embrace their first spring. My observations of our young provide me with the best example of unconditional love, and my inspiration to be a more loving individual.
I encourage you all to take the time each day to observe and partake in the magical season of spring, and the continued practice of The Art of Loving in your daily lives.
My gratitude and thanks to all our contributing writers, Leslie, Debora, Maria, Lisa, Rachael, Mellisa, Gary and our special guest contributors.
