Flirting: It's Place in a Marriage
by Debora Myers
There is a place
for flirtation in our adult lives. Bogged down by weary spouses, insistent
children and demanding employers... a flirtation can keep our motors
running and our juices flowing.
We shouldn't have
to mask our sexy feelings and love for others around us. By being healthy,
balanced individuals we should honor our sexuality as well. I'm not
implying that we should jump upon every person that arouses us, but
at least accept the fact that the world is full of many delicious flavors
to tantalize and keep our furnaces stoked! There are many couples that
are secure enough in their relationships with each other that they allow
one another to have extramarital affairs or experiences. That is difficult
for most of us as our social system does not support this in any way,
while at the same time we are bombarded with sex from every direction.
Such hypocrisy!
Many self- confident
men are turned on by the fact that their peers find their mate eye catching
and stimulating. It's an ego boost for them to know that another is
attracted to you. If it is something that truly upsets your mate then
don't rock the boat, (unless you want to make him mad), undercover flirting
is advised in that situation. Sometimes that's even more titillating.
It gives us a private area concerning our sexuality that belongs only
to us, while at the same time cultivates an air of mystery.
Word of warning
though, you must keep things in the proper perspective, do not let it
go too far and don't' fall for your flirtation partner. It's not really
very nice to tease and flirt with your best friend's husband, especially
if she's insecure and views your coquettish ways as a threat. Back off!
Life would get pretty lonely without our friends.
Life can be beautiful;
it is what we make of it. We can't always have our cake and eat it too,
but we can flirt and fantasize. By doing so our daily pressures are
lightened and we learn to not take everything so seriously.
